About Municipality
Pollachi is a Special Grade Municipality and a Taluk Head Quarter. The Pollachi Municipality was constituted in the year 1920 with effect from 01-11-1920 as per G.O. No. 763 M dated 10-06-1920. The area of the Municipality at the time of constitution was 4 sq. miles with a population of 8,693and the length of road was 9 1/2 kms.

Pollachi Municipality lies in the foot of AnamalaiHills(976.98 ft MSL) and the office is situated in Palghat Highways Road. The area of the Town is 13.87 SKms having a population of 90124 (Male – 44811, Female – 45302, Others – 11) as per 2011 Census. The Town has been divided into 36 Electoral Wards and 10 Sanitary Divisions. Vadugapalayam and T.Kottampatty are the two villages and suburb of Pollachi Town.
The Municipality is administered by a Municipal Commissioner supported by Municipal Engineer, Senior Town Planning Officer, Revenue Officer, Manager, Municipal Health Officer and other staff. The Council has 14 lady members, 22 male members headed by the Chairperson
