Town Planning Section – Roles and Responsibilities
The Town Planning Officer is the overall in-charge of the Town Planning Section. The officer is responsible for overseeing all activities related to urban planning within the municipal limits.
The Town Planning Inspector assists in:

Preparation and maintenance of land use records as per approved zoning regulations.

Issuing licenses and plan approvals for constructions.

Monitoring and regulating building construction activities.

Granting layout approvals within the town limits.

Controlling and removing unauthorized encroachments.
Both the Town Planning Inspector and the Chainman assist the Town Planning Officer in the execution of these duties.
Additionally, the Town Planning Officer serves as the Nodal Officer for the implementation of the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM), now known as Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM).
DAY-NULM is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at reducing poverty and the vulnerability of the urban poor by facilitating access to:

Gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities

Capacity building and training,

Support for urban street vendors,
-
Shelter for the urban homeless.
The scheme focuses on enabling sustainable livelihoods through an integrated and inclusive approach.
