Engineering Section – Roles and Responsibilities

The Municipal Engineer is the overall in-charge of the Engineering Section of the Municipality. The Municipal Engineer is responsible for planning, execution, and maintenance of all municipal infrastructure and engineering services.

The Municipal Engineer is assisted by the following staff:

• Assistant Engineer

• Electrical Superintendent

• Overseer
• Draughtsman

• Work Inspector

• Fitter

• Electrician

• Wireman

• Helper

The key responsibilities of the Engineering Section include:

• Maintenance of street lights

• Water supply system management

• Road laying and maintenance

• Construction and maintenance of municipal buildings

• Maintenance of drainage systems

• Upkeep of parks and head works

• Maintenance and operation of municipal vehicles

• Maintenance of avenues and storm water drains

This section plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of essential civic infrastructure and public utility services to the residents.
