About Municipality

The Vaniyambadi Municipality was established by the British Government in April 1886, following G.O. Ms. No. 421 from the Local and Municipal Department, dated 21.08.1885. It was upgraded to a Grade II Municipality on 01.05.1996, as per G.O. Ms. No. 118 issued by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department. The town’s jurisdiction was expanded on 09.02.1984 by incorporating certain survey numbers from Amburpet village, in accordance with G.O. Ms. No. 195 of the MAWS Dept. In 1998, the municipality was further elevated to First Grade status, and later, on 02.12.2008, it was upgraded to a Selection Grade Municipality via G.O. Ms. No. 238, MAWS Dept
