Sewerage Existing Situation
Phase-I
New Tirupur Area Development Corporation (NTADCL) has laid sewer collection system for a length of 120 kms covering 22 wards during the year 2005. Out of 22 wards 11 wards (ward nos. 9, 24, 25, 26, 27, 31, 42, 45, 47, 48 and 50) are fully covered and 11 wards (ward nos. 8, 10, 23, 32, 43, 44, 46, and 56) are partially covered. The system has been designed for a population of about 2.5 Lakhs expected in the year 2050. The system is under operation since 2008. About 7 to 8 mld of sewage is being generated and is being treated at the 15 mld STP constructed by NTADCL at Sarkar Periyapalayam village.
Phase-II
Under AMRUT 2017-20 it is proposed to lay sewage collection system covering 42 wards (ward nos.13, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 28, 1to8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 26, 27, 28, 58, 59, 60, 46, 55, 56, 57, 41, 50, 51, 40, 42, 43, 44, and 45) for a length of 535.82 kms. Out of this certain wards are fully covered and some wards are partially covered due to topography condition. The system has been designed to cover a expected population of 11 Lakhs in the year 2050.
All the uncovered areas namely wards 52, 53, 54, 55, 57, 58, 19, 21, 32, 33, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41 and 42 and left out areas in the areas where UGD system has already been implemented are proposed to be covered under the new DPR being prepared. The population to be covered under this DPR is about 6.0 Lakhs expected in the year 2050.
The main mode of individual disposal in the City in UGSS uncovered areas is through such as septic tanks, low Cost Sanitation units and through public conveniences.
