- ASSESSMENT OF TAX
Property Tax
1) Property tax is major revenue source for the Corporation
2) Demand notice for Property tax and Profession tax served to assessee for every half year. Tax should be paid within fifteen days after receipt of demand notice at computerized collection centre or online portal.
3) Property tax is assessing @18.5% of building value.

1) Property tax is assessing in this Corporation dividing into following four zones and basic value

As per basic value of the above Property tax is assessing in concerned working sheet.
2) Every assesses should be give details in the self assessment return for fixation of new assessments and improvement of existing buildings. After receipt of the above self return revenue official assess the Property tax on the basis of the details given in the self assessment return.
3) After purchase of concerned building purchaser should submit original purchase document to revenue inspector or revenue assistant for verification of Xerox copies. Then the true copy of document and transfer application handed over at information centre.
PROFESSIONAL TAX
1) Professional tax is assessing as per new professional tax rules.
2) New Professional tax is assess on the submission of half year income return filling by the traders. Every half year demand notice for Property tax and Profession tax is serving in April and October month or every year to assesses. Tax should be paid within fifteen days after receipt of demand notice at computerized collection centre.

- IV) PAYMENT OF TAX, FEES
- i) Taxes: All Taxes can be paid through the Facilitation Counter in the Corporation Office and the Collection Centres at 1) Sivanthakulam, V.V.D.Park, near New Bus stand, Cruzpuram and all zonal offices. The tax can be paid either by cash or Demand draft drawn in favour of the Commissioner, Thoothukudi Corporation payable at Thoothukudi
- ii) Fees: Thoothukudi Corporation collects fees for various services rendered by the Corporation The fees (rates) presently levied by the Corporation shown in the Citizen charter. These fees can be remitted at the office counter.
- V) ALL LICENCES INCLUDING TRADE AND BUILDING LICENCE:
- a) Trade licences:
The rate of licence fees for D & O traders and under Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 is fixed by the council once in five years and it is given effect from the commencement of the financial year viz 1st April. The fees are collected through the concerned area Sanitary Inspector. The fees have to be remitted before 45 days of the next financial year. Default in adhering to the time-line would result in the fine .
- b) Building Lincece:
The applications for building licence shall be submitted to the Thoothukudi Municipal Corporation through the online portal of the Corporation . The prescribed fees shall be remitted through online after approval of the application by the concern officer . The payment includes building licences fees, development charges, and contribution to the manual employees Welfare Fund. The building licence is sanctioned normally within 30 days of receipt and the validity period of licence is two years. If the construction is not commenced within the validity period of two years, fresh approval of building lincence shall be obtained.
The Town Planning Inspector of the concerned division is the key officer who can be approached if there is any delay or other grievance and also his officer viz the Town Planning Inspector, if grievance is not property redressed.
- VI) Lay out approval
The applicantion for approval of lay out was presented to the Corporation which scrutinized if and forwarded the same to the Director of Town and Country Planning for technical scrutiny. After such scrutiny and recommendation, further action would be taken to approve the lay outs by the LPA. As per the recent amendments to the Act, the initial application shall be directly submitted to the Director of Town and Country Planning for technical scrutiny and recommendation. The proposal shall contain lay out sketch and topo sketch, ownership document for the land, extract of Master Plan and Detailed development plan for the site, encumbrance certificate, extract of Town Survey Register and Survey sketch shall be enclosed with the lay out application.

VIII) Solid Waste Management
SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT IMPLEMENTATION
Door to door collection of garbage is made by Corporation Sanitary workers daily from the households and shops. In addition to this, waste generated by marriage halls and hotels are also collected by Corporation workers, on the payment of service charges fixed by the council. All the garbage collected in the town is brought to the compost yard through Corporation vehicles.

- X) RESERVATION FOR KALYANA MANTAPAM
- Get a permission from Commissioner in letter form.
- After getting the permission, remit the remit the full amount in Miscellaneous counter.
- XI) Animal Control
An estimated 420 street dogs and 355 pet dogs at homes are in the citylimit. A total of 420 dogs have been sterilized so far at a cost of Rs. 1.87 lakhs. The expenditure will be got reimbursed from the Animal Welfare Board of India and proposals for reimbursement of the expenditure have been sent to them. People who have any complaints about street dog nuisance or about their pet dogs can report to the Corporation Health Officer or the
area Sanitary Inspector. All pet animals should be properly vaccinated and a Corporation
Licence shall be obtained after payment of a nominal annual fee.
