Citizen Charter
FORMATION : Tamil Nadu Government has decided to issue a “CITIZEN’S CHARTER” in order to make its functions transparent, responsible and friendly. The government has issued orders directing the local bodies to frame such CITIZEN’S CHARTERS defining clear and basic principles. Tenkasi Municipal Council is immensely pleased to present this CITIZEN’S CHARTER to the people of this town.

AIMS OF THE CHARTER
1. To render expeditious and Quality service.
2. Fixing time schedule for rendering Civic Services.
3. To improve the transparency and efficiency of administration.

FOR EFFICIENT ADMINISTRATION
REPORT ON THE PUBLIC SERVICE OF THE MUNICIPALITY
Streamlining the local administration for the welfare of the people.
The municipal council will adopt the following guidelines for implementing its specified objective of civil services.
i. Charging for its functions honestly and justify.
ii. Special attention will be bestowed in executing the works and in performing the services.
iii. Maintenance of punctuality and efficiency.
Improved methods of planning, execution and maintenance in respect of the following items of essential Public Service.
a) Drinking Water.
b) Public Health-Solid Waste Management
c) Roads
d) Drains and Drainage
e) Street Lighting

WATER SUPPLY

The Municipal Engineer and his team of Engineers and Staff are responsible for protected drinking water supply in the town. For a population of 62,828 the town requires a daily quantity of 33.33 lpcd. On an average, the per capita supply is maintained at 50 lpcd. Thamirabarani water supply, new scheme was implemented at present.

HEALTH AND SANITATION

Solid Waste Management

The waste management in the town is entrusted with the Sanitary Officer and a team of 3 Sanitary Inspectors. The collection of waste in 12 wards entrusted with private agencies. Remaining 21 wards are divided into three divisions and collection of waste carried out. 21 Metric tones waste are collected daily. 100% waste collections carried out daily.

PREVENTION OF FOOD ADULTERATION

The Health officer / sanitary officer of the Municipality and his team of Food Inspectors are entrusted with the responsibility of enforcement of the “Prevention of Food Adulteration Act” within the Municipal limit. The trades / traders handling food articles are also licensed.

OTHER TRADES LICENSING

These are normally called “Dangerous and offensive Trades” The Municipality regulates and issues licenses for using any premises within the town for running trades and installation of machineries therefor. The responsibility for regulation and issue of license is entrusted with the Sanitary Inspector’s of the Municipality.

IMMUNISATION

This Municipality is playing an active role in immunisation according to schedule and in nation wile special drives for immunisation. Sanitary Officers, Sanitary Inspectors and Maternity Assistant are monitoring the above programme.

There are 3 Maternity centers in which 2 centres are catering free service to the urban poor. They are managed by Maternity Assistant and ayah. They are under the overall supervision of Commissioner.

Roads

The Municipal Engineer and his team of officers are entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining roads belonging to Municipality within the Municipal limit. 50.093 km’s length of roads and 33.383 km’s length of drains are maintained by the Municipality. 1432 Tube lights, 381 Sodium Vapour lights and 20 Mercury lights totally 1833 Street lights are maintained by the Municipality. For the last 4 years maintenance of Street lights was entrusted to the Private Agency.

Property Tax
