| Municipality has been divided into 09 sanitary division, each division is managed by a sanitary inspector. Sanitary workers are engaged for sweeping, drain cleaning. Transportation of garbage door to door to collection and segregation of solid waste management works.
Average daily 46.5 M.T. of mixed waste collected all over the town. This municipality has compost yard naming Arasiar Patti Village Municipal Compost yard to the extent of 20.37 Acres. The details of solid waste composition and collection efficiency are shown in the Table.

SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL
There is a compost yard for solid waste dumping and the waste is disposed in the Arasiar Patti Municipal Compost , which occupy an area of 20.37acres. Totally 3 Dumper Placer, 2 tipper lorries and 2 tractors are available for Sold Waste Collection. The existing compost yard is to be provided with adequate infrastructure facilities such as road, Weigh Bridge, Waste Segregation platform, mechanical sewer under SWM Special Scheme.
Segregation of Waste at Source: Each and every household person is instructed by the Rajapalayam municipality to maintain separate baskets for segregation of waste as degradable and non-degradable. The residents are instructed to use separate baskets for segregating the waste and keep the baskets in front of their houses for easy handling of the conservancy worker.
Creating awareness among the public
To create awareness among the public and to realize the importance of segregation of garbage, handbills have been distributed to each and every houses/households and propaganda on the zero garbage system have also made through the Health Division
Manufacture of Compost/Manure
Rajapalayam Municipality has prepared a Bio-manure using Segregated waste collected from Restaurant and Hotels. Everyday 1MT of garbage is sent to the Compost yard to make Bio-Manure. |
