| Cinema Theaters Details
There are 7 cinema theaters in Namakkal town, including one complex of 4 in one and another 2 in one. All the theaters are having common facilities including parking space. Cinema is one of the main recreational activity in Namakkal Town. The total seating capacity of all these theatres comes to about 4500. The cinema theatres attract the population not only from the Town but also from the surrounding rural areas up to 10km distance.
Parks Namakkal Municipality maintains two small parks. Out of them, one park is notified under Parks & Play Field Act. The Park called Nehru Park is situated opposite to Bus-stand, in an extent of 0.32 acres. Another one is situated at Chetty Kulam Street in an extent of 980 sq. ft. There are no private parks maintained in private sector. Recently a “Children’s park “ has been created on the banks of Kamalalayam tank, through private donations.
Recreational facilities required The existing open space is minimal when compared to the norms of 1-12 hectares per 1000 population in the urbanised areas. The existing parks are very small in nature and the play grounds are clubbed with Institutions. Therefore there is need for planned open space with facilities that will provide healthy recreational activities for both young and old people. |
