|There is one vegetable market and a fish market in the this town. The fish market has been leased out where the vegetable market has not been leased out and the charges are collected through the trust.|
|There is daily shandy in the Town, which belongs to Alanduraiappar Devasthanam. A tax of 15% from the income should be paid to the Municipality. This tax has not been paid from 1986-87.Kittappa commercial complex comprises of 11 shops , Co-optex mart in ground floor and central telephone exchange in first floor it is owned and maintained by the Municipality.|
|In the town “Thula festival” or “Kuda Mulukku festival” is one of the important festival being celebrated during December every year on the banks of river Cauvery that attracts people within and out side the town. This festival is conducted for 9 days in the month (Ippasi month) that starts from Mayuranathar temple|
|During the festival Municipality engage the service of temporary sanitary workers to carryout essential services to public. The road side shops are given for rent during this festival and Municipality earned a revenue of Rs.5,11,000 in the year 2004-05.|

| The commercial activity in Mayiladuthurai town is well established. There are weekly markets, Daily markets and an Uzhavar Sandhai functioning at present.
