About Municipality

Krishnagiri was constituted as a Panchayat and declared by the former Chief Minister Thiru. Arignar Anna Durai in the year on 27.10.1961. The Town was upgraded as Third grade Municipality in the year 1965, Second Grade on 7.2.1975. Krishnagiri functions as first grade Municipal Town with effect from 17.04.1984. Upgraded as Special Grade Municipality from 06-03-2019 as per G.O.(MS) No.49 MA&WS Dept dated 06-03-2019. It has an extent of 11.50sq.km and a population of 71335 as per 2011 census. The municipality consists of three Revenue Villages namely 1.Krishnagiri, 2. Boganapalli (part) and 3. Kattiganapalli (part)..
