        IDAPPADI Town is located in the Salem District of Tamil Nadu. Idappadi lies between 11’30” and 11’40” Norther latitute and between 77’0” and 78’0” Eastern longitute. It is located within Idappadi Taluk and at a distance of 40 Kilometres North-West of Salem and at a distance of 16 Kilometres from Sankari Durg which is the nearest railway station. It is bounded by Mettur and Omalur Taluks of Salem District on the North, Salem Taluk of Salem District on the East, Bhavani Taluk of Erode District on the West and Tiruchengode Taluk of Namakkal District on the South.

1983 Upgraded to Second grade Municipality.
1998 Upgraded to First grade Municipality.
1998 Idappadi-Rasipuram Combined Water Supply Scheme is implemented.
