Transportation
Coonoor is connected by train from Mettupalayam, the famous textile center of Tamil Nadu via Mettupalayam, from where the historic narrow gauge mountain railway begins and reaches Udhagamandalam on the hilly tracks amidst the panorama of natural scenario. Coonoor lies also on the Nagapattinam – Mysore National Highway Road, 70 Kms. from Coimbatore 35 Kms. from Mettupalayam upwards and 18 Kms. downwards from Udhagamandalam, headquarters of the Nilgiris district.
Railway
Coonoor is an important tourist center and located along enroute to Udhagamandalam town in the Western Ghats. This hill station is also connected through a railway track, which connects with Ooty and Mettupalayam by a Narrow Gauge Railway Line.
Transport
The Tamil Nadu state Bus transport corporation is providing 90% of transport facilities to this town. Besides the bus facilities the southern Railway is providing train facilities through Coonoor Railway station which is a century old Railway station. Train facilities are available to Udhagamandalam and Mettupalayam from Coonoor Railway station.
