குடிநீர் விநியோகம்

Water supply is about 4.12 MLD at the rate of 102 lpcd. Frequency of supply of supply is daily for 1.5 to 2 hours. Salient details of water supply system are given in the following sections.

Source and Head works

First protected water supply for Aranthangi Municipality was commissioned in the year 1968 with River Vellar as source and head works at Alapiranthan at a distance of 4.0 km from Aranthangi And 10 Deep Bore Wells and 4 Nos of OHT Through Own Source in our Municipality. Distribution system 76.00km. improvement scheme was approved and implemented during 2006 with river Kolidam, which is northern distributary of River Kollidam as source. The head works is at Thirukatupalli which is about 80 km away from the town. From the head works water is pumped to the Booster sump located at Veeramakali OHT and then pumped to three number over head tanks located within the Municipality. Now in Municipal limit Own source of water supply is maintained by ULB in 11 Deep Bore wells with 7 OHTs.

Storage Reservoirs

The water is distributed through 7 Nos. overhead tanks constructed within Municipal limits. The total storage capacity is 29.65.00 LL. The details of storage reservoirs Own source are given below

DETAILS OF THE WATER BODIES:

In Municipal limit 30 Nos. of water bodies. Municipality owned 1 No. (Puduk kulam) and Municipal Maintenance with 5 Nos. (Suriyamoorthy Kulam, Kuttai Kulam, Pappan Kulam, Vennaval Kulam, Odai kulam) and other 24 Nos. Water bodies belongs to other Departments like PWD, High Ways, HR& CE, etc.)
