Ambasamudram Municipality was upgraded as Second Grade Municipality Wide G.O.MS. No. 154. MAWS department dated 9.8.2010. It was constituted as Third Grade Municipality on 1.10.2004. It was upgraded as Town Panchayat on 1.9.1966. This town Panchayat was awarded as “Third Grade Municipality” in the year 2004. The population of the town was 35645 as per 2001 census. (Male-17405, Female-18240). Ambasamudram town area was included within the jurisdiction of the Municipality.
Location of the Town
Ambasamudram Municipality is located in Tirunelveli – Papanasam State Highways Road at distance of 35 Kms from Tirunelveli on West Direction.
Transportation Linkages
Papanasam, Tenkasi, Alangulam and Tirunelveli are linked by transportation by road. Tirunelveli and Tenkasi are linked transportation by Railway route.
